Decentralized projects have a rather complex history of interface development. Many successful decentralized platforms are extremely difficult to master for an outsider who is unfamiliar with IT and blockchain at least at a basic level.
On the one hand, one cannot say that this hinders the success of projects per say. After all, Bitcoin “took off” when it was absolutely impossible for laymen to use it. And there is a perfectly understandable reason for this — geeks, cypherpunks and other IT-enthusiasts are primarily interested in decentralization. They understand what they are doing (at least somewhat) and are willing to put up with a complicated interface. And they also oppose the “dumbing down” of blockchain platforms and decentralized projects, because then they lose the illusion of elitism.
On the other hand, if you limit the target audience to cypherpunks alone, then you can forget about mass adoption of blockchain, decentralization and cryptocurrencies. Blockchain enthusiasts have already got what they need. The mass user does not want to understand a lot of parameters and fields, they want to click on a couple of buttons and see that everything works. This does not mean that later they will not be interested in advanced options, so they should be available. But any ecosystem, if it wants to become popular, must be accessible.
Utopia is not a project for a bunch of enthusiasts, it is a project that seeks to revolutionize the Internet. So we made it as simple as possible and with the most user-friendly interface possible. However, we have not forgotten about cypherpunks — a wide range of additional settings and options will allow them to fine-tune their personal Utopia.
